A dull pruner crushes stems instead of cutting them. This flat diamond plate is small enough to live on your key ring or in an apron pocket, so you can touch up a blade in the garden the moment it starts to drag.
Why gardeners like it
- Diamond-coated steel plate sharpens hardened blades such as SK5 pruners and snips.
- Flat face follows the bevel of a pruner, knife or hoe edge.
- Lengthwise groove for pointed tips.
- Ball chain to clip it to keys, a belt loop or a tool bag.
- Pocket size: 2.5" long and only 1 mm thin.

Questions
How do I sharpen bypass pruners?
Hold the plate flat on the beveled side of the cutting blade, match the existing angle and stroke from the pivot toward the tip. A few strokes are usually enough. Wipe the blade clean afterwards.
Does it work on the hook side?
The hook of a bypass pruner doesn't cut, so it doesn't need sharpening. Sharpen only the curved cutting blade.
