Questions

What can I sift with it?

Finished compost, potting mix you want to reuse, garden soil for seed beds, and leaf mold. Moist material sifts more easily if it is crumbly rather than wet and sticky.

Is the mesh fine enough for seed-starting mix?

It removes stones, roots and lumps for a smooth mix. For very fine seed covering, sift twice.

What do I do with what's left in the sieve?

Put lumps and twigs back on the compost pile to finish breaking down.
