  • Overall length 8.7"
  • Cylinder diameter 2.4"
  • Weight 7.4 oz

Push the steel cylinder into the bed, twist, and lift: the serrated edge cuts a clean round hole and carries the soil plug out with it. Drop in a bulb or a seedling, press the release and the plug falls back on top. Planting a row of tulips stops being a trowel-and-knees job.

Why gardeners like it
  • Serrated cutting edge bites into soil and through small roots so the cylinder goes in with less force.
  • Lifts the soil plug in one piece, so every hole is the same width and you refill it with the same soil.
  • Spring release: press the buttons at the handle and the cylinder lets the plug go.
  • Ribbed non-slip handle sized for a full grip, wider than the cylinder for leverage.
  • For fall bulbs, seedlings and vegetable starts in beds, borders and large containers.

Questions

What size bulbs does it suit?

The 2.4" (6 cm) cylinder fits small and medium bulbs such as crocus, grape hyacinth, tulips and most daffodils, and seedling plugs.

Can I use it for transplanting seedlings?

Yes. Lift a plug where the seedling will go, set the seedling in, and backfill with the plug soil.

Does it work in hard or rocky soil?

It is a hand tool, so loose or moist soil is easiest. Water dry ground the day before planting.
